Comedian, actor, and producer, Hasan Minhaj has won an Emmy Award, a Peabody Award, two Webby Awards, and a place on Time’s 100 most influential people in the world. But one accolade has eluded him… until now: J. Press Icon.
We sat down with Hasan to hear his take on menswear, style, and what makes an icon.
"What makes an article of clothing iconic? To me, an iconic piece has to simultaneously feel familiar, but also feel new,” says Hasan.
“An Oxford shirt, or a Donegal coat can have this beautiful heft and drape that feels classic, but then there can be an interesting pop of color that takes it in a new direction. And makes you think 'Oh, I never saw it that way.’ I suppose that's what we all wish for as artists and creative people: you want your work to last the test of time, but no matter when you look at it, it still feels innovative and fresh. That's iconic."
