Our Cowichan cardigan was knitted exclusively for us by a third-generation craftswoman from the Salish Coast region of New Brunswick, Canada, historical home of the Cowichan Tribal people.  In our development process for this sweater, the Cowichan Tribe certified our knitter as one of the most reputable in their community.  As each sweater was knitted by one person and completely by hand, we were able to obtain only twelve pieces.  These are truly special sweaters, indeed.

With this special piece, we took pains to ensure that the sweater was the genuine article and not the commercial "Cowichan-style" knockoff many retailers sell.  To that end, we submitted our design and production plan to the Cowichan Tribes which, upon review, granted us permission to use the official registered Cowichan Sweater "APPROVED" trademark which we gratefully and proudly feature on the sweater's label.

Note: this is a substantial, handknit sweater with a trim fit.  While the knit and fit will relax slightly over time, we recommend checking the size chart and sizing up for a more traditional fit.
