Guinness was founded in Dublin, Ireland in 1759 by Arthur Guinness. "Guinness is Good For You" became one of the most recognizable slogans in British advertising, helping define the witty, distinctive campaigns so distinctive. 

Founded in 1793 in Stoke-on-Trent, Mintons became one of Britain's leading ceramic manufacturers. The Metropolitan Museum of Art describes Minton as the most important ceramics factory of the Victorian period; the company exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851 and became particularly celebrated for its porcelain and decorative ceramics.
