The “21” Club, a former Prohibition-era speakeasy, quickly established itself as one of New York City’s premier dining and social destinations. Founded in 1922 by cousins Jack Kreindler and Charlie Berns, the Club became an enduring favorite of celebrities and dignitaries alike. Its private wine cellars once housed the collections of Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, John F. Kennedy, and more. The Club was famously the setting for the first date of Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart.
